Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce Offers Thrive, Don’t Just Survive and Six Session Business Fitness Course

The Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Palius + O’Kelley, LLP, is offering business fitness courses to help businesses survive in this challenging economy.

“The Chamber should be the one-stop shop for all business resources and we are pleased to be able to host a workshop with this depth to help our Chamber members as they navigate these tough economic times,” said Kristen Amyx, Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce President & CEO.

These “business fitness” workshops will help CEOs, managers and finance staffs refine their business models. Thrive, Don’t Just Survive, the first workshop, will be held on March 26th from 8-10 a.m. in the Jean Blois Community Room at the Chamber. It is $25 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members.

Maeda Palius, Co-owner of Palius & O’Kelley, said, “Do not accept a recession as a reason for a drop in sales. Do not make the mistake of believing your firm will accelerate past competitors once the economy recovers. If you start to notice things going wrong, evaluate your business’s health and make the necessary changes to adapt to the downturn.”

In addition, April 21st will mark the start of a six session Business Fitness Workshop Series for those who want to go even more in depth on how to do business better. These workshops will be offered as a complete series in which one class will build upon the other. The dates for these courses are April 21st, May 26th, June 23rd, July 28th, September 22nd, and October 27th from 8-9:30 a.m. The series is $199 for members and $249 for non-members.

Finally, new business owners and those looking to start a business will have the opportunity to take advantage of free quarterly workshops targeting new businesses. The first one will be held on April 16th from 4-5:00 p.m. at the Chamber and is free.

“Often times new business owners have a great product, but lack the necessary financial and budgeting acumen of an established company. These sessions will help provide a framework for making good business decisions,” noted Amyx.
